I started Getting Off Piste as a way to share what I love most: chasing snow, exploring the mountains and discovering new places, all the things that make travel unforgettable. I’m here to show that adventure doesn’t have to be expensive or out of reach. From ski slopes to dirt roads, my guides and tips are designed to help you plan affordable trips that don’t compromise on experience.
Who Is Getting Off Piste?
Hi, I’m Bec. I’m a snow tragic based in Victoria’s High Country, Australia, who lives for powder days, tight trees, big bumps and an après beer – or two, on a patio somewhere with a mountain view.
Having worked more than 10 ski seasons (and counting) and taken numerous ski trips, I’m something of an expert on all things snow, particularly planning the perfect trip.
Over the years, my snow adventures have taken me many places. I’ve been lucky enough to work in the Australian and Canadian ski fields, giving me the chance to check out both the big & little resorts across both countries. I’ve also spent considerable time exploring the Japanese slopes, and even ducked across to enjoy some South Korean snow.
In my years of snow adventures, I’ve made all the classic mistakes – overpriced accommodation, missed transfers, rental gear disasters – and I’m here to put my expertise to work so you don’t make them, too. After years of navigating (and working for) confusing resort booking systems, coordinating complicated resort transfers and looking out for the numerous hidden costs that come with a ski holiday, I realised there was a gap in simple, practical and budget-conscious ski travel advice. I’ve created Getting Off Piste to share the knowledge I’ve gained from living and working in the snow, so you can skip the stress and get straight to the powder.
What began as a love for the snow has evolved into Getting Off Piste – a hub for adventure travel and mountain inspiration.
